The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) takes your privacy seriously and will treat your personal information with care and confidentiality in line with General Data Protection Regulation. Any personal information that you provide us will not be shared with third parties without your permission, unless we are legally required to do so.

We process your personal data for the benefit of our education service provision. We attach great importance to your privacy and we will therefore treat these personal details confidentially and carefully. What information do we collect about you?

In order for us to provide you with the requisite Education and CPD membership services we need to collect personal data from you.  This includes, but is not limited to, your name, address, email address, telephone number, credit / debit card information.  The NAFD are committed to ensuring that the information we collect and use is appropriate for this purpose, and does not constitute an invasion of your privacy. We will endeavour to keep your information accurate and up to date, and not keep it for longer than is necessary.

How will we use this information?

The NAFD will use your personal data to provide you with services you have requested from us when we collected the information from you to process your training / qualification registration, including to register you as a new student, to process and deliver your registration and to manage payments and fees. We will also inform you of important Education events and dates, publishing your Qualification in Funeral Director Monthly and to provide you with customer service (such as responding to questions, concerns and feedback provided by you on your registration and contacting you via email, telephone or post for this purpose). We will also notify you of material changes to our terms or this Privacy Policy.

What will we disclose to third parties?

We may pass your personal data on to third-party service providers contracted to the NAFD in the course of dealing with you, including Awarding and Accreditation bodies in relation to your training/ qualification registration and approved NAFD tutors.  Any third parties that we may share your data with are obliged to keep your details securely, and to use them only to fulfil the service they provide on behalf of the NAFD.  When they no longer need your data to fulfil this service, they will dispose of the details in line with the NAFD’s procedures. If we wish to pass your sensitive personal data onto a third party we will only do so once we have obtained your consent, unless we are legally required to do otherwise.

Who are we?

Established in 1905, the National Association of Funeral Directors represents more than 3,700 UK funeral homes nationwide, UK and overseas suppliers to the profession and overseas funeral firms. Our role is to provide support and guidance to funeral firms and the bereaved families in their care.

Registration Acceptance and Contract

We will notify you by e-mail as soon as possible to confirm receipt of your student registration following successful payment.

To securely receive payments over the internet, we use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect your personal information and payment details. We take security seriously and have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect. Although we do our best to keep your personal information secure, we cannot however guarantee the security of your information transferred to our site. This website, its content and any contracts arisen out of it are governed by and in accordance with English law. All contracts are conducted in English and by entering into a contract both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Intellectual Property Rights

All materials, including images, illustrations, designs, site layout, photographs, written and other text or script that are part of this site together with all software compilations, underlying source code and software in the site are protected by copyright, trade mark, design right and/or other worldwide intellectual property rights and are owned or controlled by or licensed to the NAFD. To the extent permitted by law, the NAFD gives no warranties in relation to the website, in particular with limitation, any warranties regarding the accuracy of descriptions and illustrations of items in the website or other IP infringement and freedom from viruses. We do our best to keep our site up to date but cannot guarantee that the site and its contents are completely free of technical errors, viruses or anything else that may have a harmful effect on your computer or any technology. The NAFD will also do its best to allow you uninterrupted access to the site 24 hours per day, but access may be suspended, restricted or terminated at any time. By using the site, you acknowledge that you assume full responsibility for all costs associated with any necessary servicing or repairs of any equipment that you use in connection with the NAFD’s site. Of course, this statement does not affect your statutory rights as a customer.

To the extent permitted by law, the NAFD will have no liability to you in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise for any loss (including loss of profit), cost or damage (whether indirect, consequential, or otherwise) suffered as a result of your use of the website or from use of information passed through the website, even if we are aware of the possibility of such loss. The NAFD’s total liability for any claim arising shall not exceed the price paid for the services supplied by The NAFD to the customer, together with any postage costs incurred. We do not however exclude or limit our liability in respect of death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

You must use the site for lawful purposes only. By registering with us you recognise that you are responsible for all access made to the site using the log in details that you provide us with. As with all passwords and usernames, it is important that you keep them confidential at all times.

If any part of these terms and conditions is unlawful, void or for any other reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be cut out of the terms and conditions and shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any of the remaining provisions.
